Screening Last Night

So I thought the screening went well, all thing considered.

So it sucked that we didn't have sound, but the flip side was that we got shown twice, and I got some encouragement from Mark Ruppert, so not all is lost.

The audience seemed to laugh despite the problems, and the second audience seemed to react very much to Craig.

So once again, good job all.

Is it time to start drinking?

The answer is yes.

Tonight after the screening we will be going one of three places.

1. Fado's
2. Fox and Hound
3. A bar that some other team organizes a large party at.

New Server

You may notice a new look to the blog. I switched servers from a Dell Optiplex Pentium III 900 Mhz with 256 MB RAM to a Gateway Profile Pentium III 1.3 Ghz with 512 MB RAM. Both were desktop machines, but the Gateway Profile takes a lot less space.

Additionally at the reccomendation of Dan Alig, I have changed over to a new blogging tool - Movable Type. I really think it is a lot better then the old one.

Thanks

I just wanted to drop a line to you all thanking your for everything you did this weekend.

Sorry I didn't send it sooner, but I was kind of brain-dead yesterday.

Thanks for everything everybody did. I know it was a longer, more difficult movie than we've attempted in the past. Thanks for your patience, and your full efforts. They are appreciated. Specifically:

Dan A. : You showed up at 7:00 am, and you didn't stop working until the day was done. Plus you played the mighty Leroy, at a moments notice.
Kris F. : You took one of the hardest jobs to do at one of these things, (make sure we remember to capture everything we came up with only three hours before,) and you did fantastic.
Ryan. K : What's to say? You edited fast, tight and hard. You took what sometimes didn't work and made it work. And you pointed out to me Elizabeth's fantastic delivery.
Janice L. : We found that even her oral surgeon was worried about the damage they did to her mouth. And yet she put up with us this weekend. Provided us with locations. All the while on narcotic painkillers.
Craig L. : We finally gave you a meaty role, and you knocked it out of the park. You're both menacing and ridiculous. Perfect.
Ann M. : You were sick and you came anyway. Most of the time you just sat around, but you were there, willing to do whatever we asked of you.
Sarah M. : You took care of everything I hate to do, food, phone calls, handling Mike, singing. And you did so with wonderful diplomacy.
Elizabeth O. : You were tied up for three hours. In a hot room. Completely helpless. While Craig was around. I'm surprised you stayed around. You also delivered my favorite line in the whole movie.
Avish P. : What's to say? You directed the hell out of this, our most ambitious movie to date. The further and further I get away from it, the more and more I like it. Once again, I'll do a movie with you, any day.
Greg P. : Ballpoint. Possibly the best put together scene in the movie. Your delivery was flawless.
Mike P. : I can't say enough how great the lighting and camera work it. From little strips of light over Craig's eyes, to crazy camera moves, you shot incredible footage. Looking at the previews on the editing times, they actually look like comic book panels. You really captured the look we were going for.
Jen P. : My therapist. My partner in SFX crime. You did spectacular this weekend, despite being quilted into working way too late Sunday morning.
Jen S. : You rock Rolodex Girl. Thanks for not giving me too much crap over messing up the line in the script.
Mike W. : I have two words for you, repeated several times. "Rolodex Girl Rolodex Girl." You wrote a spectacular score.
Bob Z. : You took orders from your underling. I appreciate it. Your booming was tremendous.

We made the news

The AP article hit the wire Saturday, and was carried by the Philadelphia Inquirer, and NBC10.

I prefer the NBC10 edit of this story, so that's what I'm linking.

Thanks & Great Job

Hey everybody!

Just wanted to say a very heartfelt Thank You to everyone who worked on the project!!! It was the most complicated and ambitious movie we've done, and the longest shoot we've had, but everyone came through it great!

I'm super proud of the final product and know that it came out that way because we had a great team of people working on it together!

Thanks and Great Job again!

Last Announcements

So we have one more day before the whole shebang gets underway. So I have a bunch of announcements, and am just lumping them all together.

Actors and Production Staff

You will be receiving a call between 9pm and 11pm on Friday night from Sarah Murray telling you if, when and where we will be asking you to show up for call. Unless we state otherwise or we have a specific arrangement, expect to be there from 6 am to 6 pm. We probably won't start that early or go that late, but you never know. Depending on genre, and shooting needs, we may have to play around with daylight. We will feed you breakfast, lunch, and if we keep you late enough, dinner.

Preproduction Staff

If you are participating in pre-production planning please be at my place around 6:30pm. If you are not sure if you are needed before hand, please drop me a line. We're going to try and get done the brainstorming section earlier, so that more time can go into planning.

Schedule and Details

We'll be placing all of the scheduling and address locations here.

Press for 48 Hour Film

I just got off the phone with a reporter from the Associated Press. They were doing a story about the 48 Hour Film project, and got my info from Mark Ruppert. I don't know how much it will focus on us, but I did a full half hour or so with her. No pressure, but hey, we better not suck.

The article will coincide with the contest this weekend.

More "But What if You Could?" News

Although "But What if You Could?" did get chosen to be on WHYY, it was not selected for the Philadelphia Film festival.

Welcome

My intention is for all of us to add stuff here, that might not be necessary for all of us to get via email, but would be nice to have. I'm thinking shot ideas, story ideas, prop thoughts, etc. Then further down the road we can use it to announce things, like we didn't get any awards, though an awful team did.

It's On

So I apologize for not sending this out sooner, but there was some drama surrounding the 48 hour film contest, and whether or not we would be participating.

We *will* be participating in the contest this year.

The way it worked, is that the first 10 teams to get in, automatically got spots. The next N number of teams then would then be in a raffle for the other 14 spots. We did not win a spot in said raffle, as there were 37 teams entered this year, so 27 teams were vying for 14 spots.

I held off on announcing this because there was a possibility of them opening it up to the rest of us, and they did, so here we are.

It will be Friday March 19th - Sunday March 21st.

Announcements.

Everyone

It will be Friday March 19th - Sunday March 21st.

We are pretty set for residential locations.

If anyone knows of a business location (Bar, restaurant, shop, office) we could shoot at please let myself and Sarah know...

Crew… So far.

I'm pleased to inform you all that (in alphabetical order):

Kris Fanjoy will be our script supervisor.
Ryan Kelly has signed on as our editor.
Janice Lee will be the DP's whipping girl.
Annie Murray will be her sister's whipping girl.
Sarah Murray is taking some of the Producer's duties off my and Avish's hands.
Avish Parashar will be taking the directors chair again.
Mike Passanante has agreed to be our Director of Photography again.
Greg Passantante has agreed to do "anything" for us this year.
Jen Phillips will try and squeeze us in.
I will be writing and assistant directing again.
Mike Worth, will be our Composer as always.
Bob Zarazowski will be a grip, (but if he works real hard, he can be a best boy)

Actors, and production crew.

We will need you from around 8 am to 8pm on Saturday. (Maybe more, maybe less, but we'll let you know.)

Please send me a phone number that I can contact you at the night of the contest to tell you if, where and when we need you.

We are not a union shop, so production crew you might have to fill in as extras, actors you might have to hold something. Depends on circumstance.
