Cool Web Application

February 26, 2005

Via Werblog, it's a dynamic Java application that tracks the popularity of baby names over the last century:

The Baby Name Wizard's NameVoyager

Very cool.

Pennacchio = Waterston

February 23, 2005

Is it me, or does the Democratic hopeful for senate in PA, Chuck Pennacchio look kinda like Sam Waterston of Law & Order and Old Glory Insurance.

I think he does and therefore he's got my vote:
Chuck Pennacchio for US Senate in PA

TV Nonsense

February 22, 2005

There was a Crossing Jordan marathon on A&E. Fun, light hearted, Jill Hennessey is easy on the eyes. They're usually a mix of black comedy and maudlin musical montages. However the last 2 or 3 have been downright depressing, which led me to utter the sentence:

"Wow, that leaves me yearning for the feel-good glow of a Law & Order: SVU"

And speaking of A&E, I've been seeing ads for the new show Intervention. I hate the exploitation, but I really want to see the whiny gambler guy. Watch out for the preview, the guy I want to see is that one screaming about "This isn't fair... I have to get on a plane... I don't even have a choice..." Brilliant stuff.

Best Website Ever

February 16, 2005

Janice pointed out to me that Christopher Meloni of Law and Order SVU has a fan website where he actually answers questions about anything.

Half of me thinks this is really weird, but the other half has to admire the fact that Mr. Meloni is so generous to his fans... his scary, scary fans.

dnc_card

I got my 2005 DNC membership card today. I've decided to go the way of pre-2004 Boston Red Sox fans and be inordinately proud of my losing team.

Go Democrats. Harry Reid rocks in three ways...

  • Hard
  • So hard
  • Wicked hard

The Cutting Edge: The Magic of Movie Editing

I'm watching a documentary named The Cutting Edge: The Magic of Movie Editing. It's like a chapter on editing from a film textbook except in fun movie form. If you can watch it, do so. It's on Starz this month.

Thanks to Janice for finding it on TiVo for me.

UPDATE:
This movie contains commentary from Paul Verhoeven and Mark Goldblatt the director and editor of Starship Troopers talking about their opus. If there was ever any doubt, they did take it seriously. Wow.

New Video Added

February 5, 2005

Home taking care of my sick girlfriend, so I finally had time to take care of a couple things I've been meaning to. Like adding the last sketch of Craig's Variety Show to the site.

If you watched on Tivo, you may have noticed WHYY's flexible relationship with time late at night.

So if you mised it, please check it out on the Video section of Craig's Variety Show.

SIFR

February 3, 2005

I've added Sifr. I have to say I love it. It's what drives the non-standard font headers. It uses Javascript, CSS, and Flash to replace text on the fly. It gives the page a more unique look, and it reduces the download profile.

On the con-side, it seems to need the browser to be refreshed to liquidly flow into to place. Other than that, though, I think I like it.

Drop me a line, tell me what you think.

Ratings for Craig's Variety Show

We got the ratings back for Craig's Variety Show. We got a .2 share, which is roughly 15,000 people. At first I was kinda disappointed... Then I realized that 15,000 people is more than have ever watched anything I have ever done.

Very Exciting.
